The Typewriter

Story and Illustrations by Bill Thomson

Age range: 4-8

On a cold winter day kids ride their bikes to a merry-go-around and discover that it is closed, however they find a box with letters on it. The box has a typewriter inside, one of the kids produces a piece of paper to put in it and immediately begin typing. The first word that is typed is beach, and winter disappears, leaving the kids frolicking in the sand. The second word typed is ball followed by ice cream with a life sized beach pail of ice cream to dig into. Imagination runs wild as the kids have a wonderful day at the beach, but all things come to an end and the typewriter is put back, awaiting the next adventure.
