The Seedling that didn't want to grow
Written and Illustrated by Britta Teckentrup
Age range: 4-8
Spring has come, a time for new beginnings when seeds are ready to flourish-all except for one, one seed that did not nurture. Friends of the forest began to worry about the seed until roots began to form and even if she was delicate and fragile, her life was taking shape.
As the seedling began to grow a problem arose, the other plants blocked out the sunshine that the young plant needed to grow and thrive. With the help of animals, the plant finds its way to grow and thrive and to get that much needed sun warmth. The seedling begins to change rapidly every day until she had found her “perfect place” to thrive, and when that impeccable place is found - the transformation begins.
The little seedling had converted from buds to “hundreds of blossoms” and became home to many creatures. As the seasons change so does the plant, for her seeds are carried and to be planted for the next generation.
A Bookish Decree: Britta Teckentrup storytelling is brilliant and her art captures nature at its most stunning form.
