The One and Only Bob Katherine Applegate 2020 Age range 8 and up
A human narrative when done correctly will set the pace, the tone, and the
emotions of a novel. A non-human narrative is more complex because there is a relating factor-the reader needs to take that narrative and make it relatable to his or her own experience. Katherine Applegate has flair for turning a non-human narrative into a literary sensation-she accomplished it with The One and Only Ivan and with Wishtree and she has done it again with The One and Only Bob. Bob is a canine who was abandoned as a puppy but shows great fortitude and finds unknown courage to overcome his mistrust for humans and shows both the animal and human world that even the smallest of dogs can be superlative.
