The Night is for Darkness (By Jonathan Stutzman, Illustrated by Joseph Kuefler)
Published in 2020
Two young kids wave goodbye to their old home and take a journey at night to their new house. The kids leave the city behind and discover the wonder of traveling in the dark, they learn what animals lurk in the night, and understand that even if they travel through a “spooky tall forest” that the night is a time for discovering and making each other laugh. As the kids arrive at their new home there is a page that says, “The night is for searching for worlds not your own.” -a reference to being pulled out of your safe zone, but the same page also shows them arriving at their new home-a place of safety and warmth.
A Bookish Decree: An enjoyable bedtime read that brings solace and peace to the night.
