The Leprechaun's Gold

The Leprechaun’s Gold

Author Pamela Duncan Edwards

Illustrated by Henry Cole

Age range: 3-8

The Leprechaun’s Gold tells the tale of two men who travel to the Royal Palace to a contest to find the finest harpist in all of Ireland. Old Pat and Young Tom (his student) are competing, yet the younger realizes that the older is more talented and he tries to sabotage Old Pat’s chances. Along the journey Old Pat shows his kindness and generosity towards a leprechaun who repays him by giving him the most beautiful sounding harp in the land. Henry Cole as an illustrator has a knack for detail in facial expression-a detail that makes this story purposeful and memorable.

A Bookish Decree: If you cross a path with a leprechaun-kindness will always win
